University School of Polytechnic & Skill Development, established in Aug 2014 caters to the growing demand for qualified technical personnel in different streams. Since its inception, the school has always been at the forefront of innovation and has attained a leading position in the field of technical and professional education. It is poised to grow bigger and better as well as continues to seek solutions on important global problems, educating leaders to make world a better place.
Our mission is to address solutions on pressing issues using the power of engineering principles, techniques and systems. It is our belief to educate and build engineers who not only possess deep technical excellence, but also creativity, cultural and entrepreneurial skills that comes from interdisciplinary nature of courses, which are an integral part of the course.

The School of Polytechnic & Skill Development(SPSD) aims to provide conducive ambience in a local setting with innovative and engaging teaching methods, guest speakers from the industry and key research partnerships. The SPSD also encourages group learning and imparts value-added soft skills along with internships in the final semester. This internship exposes student to real life situations and develops decision making and situation handling attributes in critical situations.
To cultivate qualities of good engineer and valuable human being for the society, SPSD offers B. Tech and M. Tech degree programs in collaboration with leading industrial giants such as Google, IRSE and Siemens. These courses are in various specializations: Mechanical, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Civil and Automobile Engineering. As a part of social responsibility, SET awards students with scholarships, internships and other opportunities to enable them to get the finest education.
The main strength of the institution is the dedicated band of highly qualified faculty members who are harmonious blend of experience, academic excellence & industrial experience. University School of Engineering & Technology boasts of its intellectual property with 12 doctorates & many faculty members pursuing Ph.D. who are fully engaged in teaching & research at the undergraduate to doctoral levels in their respective fields of Engineering and Technology.
The SPSD is well equipped with excellent infrastructure in the form of state of the art laboratories, latest equipment, instruments and modern software’s. Library is fully equipped with loads of volumes of technical books for the proposed courses. Aesthetically designed tutorial rooms, class rooms and building in a green and clean ambience provide a very conducive academics environment.

Since inception, the school of polytechnic & skill development has been offering a wide range of degrees and programs in collaboration with leading names in the industry. Our graduates are innovators and professionals serve as a fuel in economic and technological development of the state and the nation.
We are living in the age of flux where every moment technology is undergoing a change. The need to broaden our mental horizon has increased manifold. It is imperative to have bold and futuristic thinking to meet the upcoming challenges head on. The school of engineering and technology endeavor to provide an innovative and high quality educational experience to our students, equipping them to meet the challenges of the 21st century, thus making them globally competent.

Servers
College has its own mail server and mail accounts are given to all the students and faculty. College has a very informative website and is hosted in the college itself. Three high end dual processor based IBM servers with redundant power supply are totally dedicated for these services.
Online Resources
College is member of the AICTE-INDEST program through which our students and faculty members can access around 120 reputed journals in various branches of engineering through web portal of IEEE i.e., www.ieeexplore.ieee.org. Department has access to all the journals of the Science direct as well.
Campus Wide Networking
To provide access to the central computing facilities and Internet access throughout the campus, optical fiber based 100 Mbps backbone campus wide area network has been implemented in the college. This network connects all the departments, hostels and faculty residences. Latest managed layer-3 and layer-2 switches and optical fiber physical medium has been used to implement this project which currently serves some 200+ nodes in the college. The process of establishing wireless hotspots to make the campus Wi-Fi enabled is underway.
Internet Access
College is connected to Internet through 50 Mbps Full Duplex optical fiber leased line and this service is distributed throughout the campus through campus wide network.
Computing Hardware
Department has around 300+ branded HP, Wipro and IBM desktop computers having latest configurations to satisfy the computing requirements for various laboratories and project work of students. High end workstations and servers have been made available for special applications like simulations and central computing in the department.
Software
Almost all the major software required by students and researchers has been made available in the department. This includes all the major server and desktop operating systems, databases, application software, Matlab, CASE tools like Rational Rose and software development platforms.
Data Structure & Programming Methodology Lab
The lab provides the students with a fairly good concept of the fundamentals of data structures and also of the commonly occurring algorithms. It presents the general approach towards analyzing and evaluating and implementing the database algorithms.
Relational Database Management System Lab
This lab provides the exposure to use databases and build an RDBMS. For this, they are provided with the server based ORACLE software. To make them learn more effectively, students are given projects for implementation.
Computer Network Lab
In this lab students are trained in various networking technologies and given fair amount of exposure in design and implementation of networks. Extensive campus wide network real time experiment test bed for students to learn. Students are taught to design, implement, secure analysis and manage networks.
System Programming Lab
In this lab, the students design and understand the functioning of interpreters and compilers. The objective is to make the students realize the processes involved during the parsing and analysis of the source code.
Operating System Lab
This lab allows the students to study and appreciate various features of popular operating system i.e. LINUX along with the features of the core and its kernel.
Software Engineering Lab
The students are acquainted with the a repertoire of principles, tools and techniques (like Rational Rose) and the approach being used in industry for software development.
Data Communication Lab
This lab provides students with in-depth knowledge of data communication technologies. Lab is equipped with latest data communication trainers, LAN trainers, simulators and test & measurement equipment.
Artificial Intelligence Lab
The students are exposed to the basic as well as advanced concepts related to artificial intelligence such as implementation of heuristic search procedures and expert systems.
Fundamentals Of Computer Programming And Information Technology Lab
This lab provides the much needed exposure to basic programming language and information technology to help students to effectively exploit the potential of computers in the course of studies and their preparedness for professional life.
Computer Graphics Lab
This lab further hones the programming skills of the student by inculcating the knowledge of using graphics like Rendering, animation and modeling for interactive computer graphics.

The department has well equipped curriculum related laboratories accoutered with modern technology and sophisticated equipments to make the learning process comprehensive.

Basic Of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (BEEE) Lab
This is the main lab where all basic electronic devices and their characteristics, applications can be studied experimentally. Using these devices the small electronic circuits can be designed and tested. Students can perform practical on P-N junction diode, zener Diode, rectifiers, transistor biasing and their characteristics in different modes. Characteristics of op-amp amplifiers and FETs can also be studied in this laboratory.

Digital Electronics (DE) Lab
The goal of this lab is to make students conversant with the designing of digital systems and their characteristics, applications can be studied experimentally. Using these devices, the small electronic circuits can be designed and tested. Students can perform practical on formation of various circuits like half adder, full adder, subtractor, parity checker etc using Universal Gates. Through experiments, students become familiar with gates, multiplexers, decoders, flip-flops, counters, registers. Digital-trainer boards are provided for implementation of complete digital design
Analog Electronics (AE) Lab
This lab is intended to give the students a practical experience in working with semiconductor devices and examines the design and operation of important circuits that utilize these devices. Hardware tools used in the lab are Analog electronic trainers and PCB designing machine, besides some software tools. This Laboratory is also aimed to meet the requirements of practical work meant for designing and testing of amplifier and oscillators.
Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Lab
This lab contains software and hardware tools required for design and implementation of signal processing systems. SciLab is the software tool used for simulation of systems and debugging such is available. The laboratory is equipped with the accessories for real time signal processing and the facilities are used for the design, analysis and implementation of real time signal processing algorithms and systems.
Applied Thermodynamics Laboratory
The applied thermodynamics lab has a number of models, cut sections and experimental setups to make the students conversant with actual engines and measurement of their performance.
Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Laboratory
This lab is equipped to perform the experiments including the performance and study of basic components used in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. The equipments include Refrigeration Test Rig, Water Cooler, Simple Vapour Compression System, Domestic Refrigerator, Ice Plant, Vapour Absorption Refrigeration System, Blower Test Rig, AC and Cut Sections of different components.
Engineering Materials And Metallurgy Laboratory
This lab is equipped to cover the concepts of Heat treatment and their effects on the microstructure and hardness of the metal. Polishing Machine, Metallurgical Microscope, Metal Shearing Machine, Muffle Furnace, Induction Hardness Machine are some of the equipment of the lab.
Theory Of Machines & Vibrations Laboratory
This lab is equipped with various working models to enable the students to understand the theory of machines & vibrations developed and the methods of their measurement.
Industrial Automation And Robotics Laboratory
This Lab gives an idea of hydraulics and pneumatics coupled with simulation kits. A complete set up of pneumatic training experimental equipment is available.
Fluid Mechanics And Machinery Laboratory
The purpose of this lab is to study the working and constructional features of fluid machinery like turbines, pumps and other hydraulic equipment. This laboratory is well equipped with the experimental setup to perform the experiments on fluid machinery and demonstrate the working of different machines.
Mechanical Measurement And Metrology Laboratory
Metrology has a great importance in quality assurance. The aim to establish this laboratory is to provide practical training in the field of various types of standards & measurement. The laboratory has conventional, optical (and laser based) equipments used in metrology. Profile projector, Vernier Height Gauge, Depth gauge, Universal bevel protector, Straight edge and other measuring instruments.
Applied Thermodynamics Lab
The objective is to provide practical knowledge about the subject using various models and equipments.
Fluid Mechanics Lab
To make students familiar with all the basic concepts of fluids and fluid flow phenomenon.
Fluid Power Engineering Lab
To enable the students to acquire knowledge of fluid flow concepts, working principles of flow meters, pumps and turbines.
Engineering Materials And Metallurgy Lab
The aim of the laboratory is to make students familiar with the practical knowledge about the subject using various instruments like surface roughness tester, profile projectors etc.
Mechanics Of Solids Lab
To familiarize the students with the use of stress, strain measuring instruments.
Engineering Measurements & Metrology Lab
To understand the various measuring techniques in dimensional, optical and computer aided inspection in the industries and its role in SQC.
Ind. Automation & Robotics Lab
To train the students in hydraulic and pneumatic equipments using different control devices.
Computer Aided Design For Automobiles Lab
To make the students understand the basic principles involved in the computer aided vehicle design and apply the same for the optimum designing of the vehicle components.
Automotive Design I Lab
To provide practical knowledge of designing of automotive components.

To give a practical exposure to various electrical and electronic systems of an automobile.
HVAC Lab
The course is structured so as to acquire Fundamental and Practical oriented knowledge in HVAC.

Strength Of Material Laboratory
The objective of the strength of materials lab is to demonstrate the basic principles in the area of strength and mechanics of materials to the undergraduate students through a series of experiments. In this lab the experiments are performed to measure the properties of the materials such as impact strength, tensile strength, compressive strength, hardness, ductility, fatigue and stiffness etc.
Major Equipments:-
Universal testing machine, Torsion testing machine, Impact testing machine, Brinell hardness testing machine, Rockwell hardness testing machine, Fatigue testing Machine.
Fluid Mechanics Laboratory
This lab has basic fluid mechanics set-up. The lab is equipped with different flow measuring set-ups such as venturimeter, orifice-plate and Pitot tube etc., where students can visualize the basic theory of working of the flow meter.
The lab also has Reynolds’s setup, free-forced vortices setup, flow over open channel and impact of jet set-up, where students can fortify their theoretical knowledge.
Fluid Mechanics
Surveying Laboratory
Surveying lab offers supplemental experience in fundamental land surveying measurement methods for surveying courses, including precision steel taping methods to perform horizontal measurements, traditional transit theodolite to perform angular measurements, and traditional and automatic levels for elevation measurements.
In addition, students have opportunity to use total station equipment, which enables horizontal, vertical, and angular measurements to be made in one operation.

The lab is consisting of metallic tapes, chains, ranging rods, through compass, Auto level, Transit theodolite, Magnetic compass, Plane table, Dumpy level, Planimeter, Optical square and Tangent clinometers.

Total Station Set Up
Transportation Engineering Laboratory
The Transportation Engineering Laboratory enables experiments to be conducted for the design of bituminous and concrete pavements. Tests on sub grade, sub-base and base materials, bituminous mix design and roadway capacity studies are also available.
Major Equipments:-
Equipment is available for the identification and determination of the properties of bituminous binders and asphalt mixtures. Penetration testing machine, Los Angeles abrasion testing apparatus, Impact testing apparatus, Softening Point test, Marshal Stability test, Flakiness and Elongation index apparatus, Flash and fire point test, Penetration test apparatus and CBR testing apparatus are available.
AGGREGATE TESTING
Concrete Laboratory
This lab basically deals with the testing of different materials like Bricks, Cement, Tiles, Concrete and Wood etc. The students are able to assess the characteristics of different material through different tests prescribed in the curriculum. The Concrete technology laboratory also offers technical services for testing and research on the structural behavior and properties of materials. The concrete laboratory is equipped with all the equipment’s required for manufacturing and testing of specimens.
In addition to this the department is also trying to incorporate the Non Destructive testing of concrete in future.

The laboratory is well equipped with different testing equipments like Compression testing Machine, Vicat’s Apparatus, Le Chatlier Apparatus, Compacting Factor, Rebound Hammer, Flow Table, concrete mixer and oven of different sizes.
Slump Test, Compressive Strength, Cement Testing Test
Structural Analysis Laboratory
This laboratory gives the basic understanding of structural member under the action of loads. How structure’s behavior will be changed if there is any redundancy and how suddenly it becomes unstable will be experienced by student. Basics of determinate and indeterminate structures will be introduced through experiment to the student. The main objective of structural analysis is to determine internal forces, stresses and deformations of structures under various load effects. The laboratory of structural analysis in civil department is well equipped with all the required instruments and equipment that are helpful in the overall understanding and practical knowledge of the students.
Major Equipments:-
The lab is well equipped with Clark Maxwell’s Apparatus, Flexural Rigidity Beam Apparatus, Moment Area Theorem Apparatus, Elastically Coupled Beam Apparatus, Continuous Beam Apparatus, Columns and Struts Apparatus, Two & Three Hinged Apparatus, Pin Jointed Truss Apparatus, Curved Beam Apparatus and Cantilever Unsymmetrical Bending Apparatus.
Geotechnical Laboratory
Research and teaching in the field of geology and mineral resources engineering involves the use of processing and analysis of materials with widely varying properties. The laboratory is equipped to perform all the necessary basic characterization of soils. Geotechnical engineering is the branch of civil engineering that deals with the engineering behavior of subsurface materials. It includes Soil Mechanics, which is essential to identify, characterize and study the mechanics of soil/rock and Applied Soil Mechanics, which transfers the behavioral knowledge to practice.
Major Equipments:-
The following are examples of equipment in this laboratory: Consolidation testing machine, CBR compaction machine, direct shear test machine, tri-axial testing apparatus, unconfined compression test machine, Electric mixing apparatus, sample ejector, Hydrometer jar bath, water bath etc.
Water Supply Engineering Laboratory
Water Supply Engineering/Environment Engineering is one of the important branches of Civil Engineering that deals with the process of converting the waste water of industries and domestic into usable water. It includes various process of determining the impurities and their level by undergoing various tests and by knowing the amount of impurities, various processes could be done to make that water usable.
Major Equipments:-
The following are examples of equipment in this laboratory: COD Digestion Apparatus, BOD Digestion Apparatus, Vertical Autoclave, Muffle Furnace, Hot air oven, PH meter, Flocculator, Imhoff cone and Conductivity meter.
